Essay 1

Prior to the Wall Street Journal I honestly haven’t read the newspaper that often. I did however take journalism and newspaper class in high school. I read the Sun Sentinel and the Miami Herald at least once every day of the week. I do like the layout and the setup of the Sun Sentinel the best. I feel like the stories are stories that are interesting for a wide range of an audience.

I honestly love newspapers. I love the way you can quickly skim through articles without having to click through millions of stupid tabs and back spaces. I like the stories I read to be printed and in my hand. I like them to be there for me to be able to pick and choose what I want to read. I don’t think anyone in the world could live without them because if we didn’t have newspapers and the power shut off for the entire world we would be in complete chaos. I mean technically these newspapers wouldn’t be able to print. But they would have the current news before the power shut off. Anyway, a newspaper is more reliable than a power outlet.

I think my learning experience would be greatly influenced by a new teaching method. It’s more up to date than a text book that is printed a few years or year before the class starts. The WSJ is up to date and current with the latest news on everything related to communications and more. I do think the WSJ will meet my expectations. It will open a new leaf in my chapter and help me to understand the world of newspaper writing and the styles of different writers. I will be able to incorporate what I read into my own writing.
